Dr. Deepak Dongre represents OCHRI in NABH Workshop

Dr. Deepak Dongre, Convener- OCHRI Quality Division recently returned back after successfully completing 3 days training workshop on “Program on Implementation of NABH Hospital Standards/SHCO Standards” held at Hyderabad. National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Health Care (NABH) is constituent board of Quality Council of India, set up to establish and operate accreditation programme for healthcare organizations at par with global benchmarks. Almost 50 professionals from diverse healthcare background across all over the India participated in this program. Among them present were owners of healthcare organization, medical professional, nursing professional, medical administrators etc. NABH Principal Assessors Brigadier (Dr.) U. B. Mishra from King George Medical College, Lucknow and Dr. Reena Kumar from Sir Gangaram Hospital, New Delhi were the faculty members.

On this occasion Dr. Usha Nair, Director, Ravi Nair Hospitals Private Limited told that, “NABH focuses on patient safety and quality of healthcare based upon national / international standards, through process of self and external evaluation. The objective of this program was to provide guidance to healthcare provider on implementation of NABH standards and to develop Internal Counsellors within the hospitals for helping them to work towards implementation of quality and patient safety standards, achieving accreditation and maintaining the same.”

Dr. Anup Marar, OCHRI Director said, “Healthcare is always changing phenomenon and it is transitioning from volume-based to value-based care. We are proud to say that caregivers of Orange City Hospital & Research Institute have been at the forefront of this transformation. Working in multi-disciplinary teams, we have been examining every procedure and standard operating protocols to see if it can be done better and more efficiently.”

Dr. Vidya Nair, Director (Quality) -RNHPL expressed that, “Accreditation benefits all stake holders. Patients are the biggest beneficiary. Accreditation results in high quality of care and patient safety. The patients get services by credential medical staff. Rights of patients are respected and protected. Patient satisfaction is regularly evaluated.

 Dr. Deepak Dongre expressed his heartfelt thanks to OCHRI management for engaging him in this endeavour in an effort to improve the quality of ethical healthcare being served at OCHRI at affordable costs. He stated that “ The staff in an NABH accredited health care organization are satisfied lot as it provides for continuous learning, good working environment, leadership and above all ownership of clinical processes. Finally, accreditation provides an objective system of empanelment by insurance and other third parties.”

Dr. Priya Laddha, Quality Control Officer- OCHRI added that, “Accreditation to a health care organization stimulates continuous improvement. It enables the organization in demonstrating commitment to quality care. It raises community confidence in the services provided by the health care organization. It also provides opportunity to healthcare unit to benchmark with the best.”
