In an Independence Day speech on August 15, Hon’ble Narendra Modi, had urged people and government agencies to “take the first big step” on Gandhi Jayanti to free India of single-use Plastic. To scrap such plastic by 2022; Nationwide campaign was launched on October 2, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. A campaign “Good Bye Single Use Plastic” an awareness initiative for public was organized jointly by Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Laxmi Nagar Zone, Nagpur with support of Orange City Hospital & Research Institute, Nagpur at Khamla Chowk on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
OCHRI follows Swachhta Abhiyaan mission meticulously and calls for ban on single use plastic in hospital through in house Clean Campaign Committee, which keeps a strict vigil in and around hospital. There are friends of patients, who encourages and guides patient & relatives to follow plastic ban and cleanliness.
On this occasion Shri. Raju Bhivgade- Asst. Commissioner, and Shri. Dhananjay Jadhav- Asst. Superintendent, NMC, Laxmi Nagar Zone and Shri. Rajan Thakur, OCHRI Relationship Executive were prominently present. Shri.Sunil Sure- OCHRI Chief General Manager provided all logistics support.
Dr. Anup Marar- OCHRI Director appealed all citizens to Stop single use plastics and help NMC for Plastic Free Nagpur. Single use Disposable plastics have the “lowest recyclability” and “highest harm factor”, meaning they are the least biodegradable and with the lowest possibility of being reconverted.
Shri.Udaybhaskar Nair- Nairsons Chairman stated that everybody should learn and follow the 3 ‘R’s of waste management I.e.; Reduce, Reuse & Recycle and put it into practice to help the environment. Single-use plastic has become one of the biggest sources of pollution, adding to landfills and adversely impacting the already frail ecological balance. So everybody should say No to single use plastics.
