Recently one 31-year-old Police personnel from Gadchiroli was referred in a critical condition to Nagpur based Orange City Hospital & Research Institute, a unit of Ravi Nair Hospitals Private Limited. He had suffered injuries in an alleged Grenade Blast. After First aid treatment, he was shifted to OCHRI for further specialized treatment. He was admitted under care of Dr. Sameer Jahagirdar- OCHRI Plastic Surgeon. He was stabilized in casualty and shifted to ICU. Provisional diagnosis was Blast Injury with multiple foreign bodies in Left Thigh and Right Flank with related complications.
Emergency surgical intervention with wound exploration and Foreign Body (Splinters) removal was performed by Dr. Sameer Jahagirdar- Plastic Surgeon and Dr. Sandeep Wagh- Orthopedic Surgeon while Dr. Anita Pande provided the necessary anesthesia and Sr. Sujata Gaikwad assisted them.
Dr. Sameer Jahagirdar informed that “While exploring wound; foreign bodies were found deeply embedded in muscles distant to entry wound. Post operatively patient recuperated well and he is fit for discharge now.”

Dr. Milind Pande- Pathologist and Dr. Nishikant Lokhande, Dr. Manish Agarwal, Dr. Saurabh Jaiswal – Radiologists rendered diagnostic support. Dr. Anit Prakash – SMO I/c Wards and Dr. Kavita Dhurve- SMO I/c Surgery led the team of medical officers. Sr. Nisha Ashok, Sr. Preethy Joseph and Sr. Kavita Gotphode led nursing & paramedical team in Operation Theatre, ICU and Ward Complex under supervision of Sr. Jessy Abraham- Nursing Incharge.
