OCHRI-CSF Breast cancer awareness talk by Dr.Lote – a success
Nagpur based Orange City Hospital & Research Institute; owned by Ravi Nair Hospitals Private Limited is always at the forefront of extending health care services to the local communities in and around its area as a part of its community development initiatives. In continuation to series of various social community initiatives to commemorate its completion of 25 years of public service & International Women’s Day, OCHRI under aegis of Central Industrial Security Force recently organized a health talk on Breast Cancer at CISF unit line in Dr. Babasaheb International Airport Nagpur.
Dr Arundhati Lote- OCHRI Breast & Endocrine Surgeon elaborated on the advance treatment modalities available for treating breast cancer. She stated that the most common cancer among Indian females is breast cancer. Unfortunately, limited access to early detection and treatment is responsible for more than half of the deaths. Hence imparting awareness on breast health and breast self-examination (BSE) is highly recommended.
Smt. Sarita Ravi Kumar, Wife of Shri. Ravi Kumar, Deputy Commandant, CISF chaired the program and thanked OCHRI for always proactively coming in support of CISF family by organizing much needed eye opening health talks and camps. Inspector Geeta Singh conducted the proceedings. Prominently present on this occasion was Ms. Gayathri Devi – Sub Inspector. All female members of CISF fraternity attended the health talk. Shri. Anil Dhakate from OCHRI coordinated the success of this undertaking.
Dr. Usha Nair- RNHPL Managing Director and Mammography Specialist added that Breast cancer often presents with lumps, but all lumps may not be cancerous. Other causes of lumpiness are fibro adenomas (benign growth of breast tissue), cyst formation and fullness during periods. Hence OCHRI recommends self-examination after 20 and annual mammogram test from the age of 45 for women.
It is added that female with varied breast lump issues from all over Central India reach OCHRI for solace looking into the availability of trained qualified team and advanced infrastructure. Likewise, major women centric organizations conduct mass Mammography screening camps at OCHRI for early detection.
