Mahalakshmi is the goddess of wealth and prosperity in Hinduism. Lakshmi Devi personifies everything that invites good fortune, beauty, intelligence, and prosperity. The word “Lakshmi’ is taken from the word Laksha which means an objective or the goal in life.  However, we often misunderstand the real meaning of Lakshmi mantras. Chanting the Lakshmi mantra is chanting a prayer to gain enlightenment and intelligence to understand and work harder towards the goal in mind. Lakshmi Puja falls on Amavasya of Krishna Paksha in the Vikram Samvat Hindu calendar month of Ashwin, on the third day of Tihar and is considered as the main festive day of Deepawali. People worship Lakshmi Devi for spiritual prosperity and material abundance.  It is believed that she helps remove the troubles that prevent people from moving on spiritual path or carry on their businesses. On Diwali, Lakshmi Devi is worshipped along with Lord Ganesh, who symbolizes auspiciousness and wisdom. He is the destroyer of evils and obstacles and blesses his devotees with success. He is also believed to be the God of education and knowledge along with wisdom and wealth.”
