OCHRI donates Covid vaccine @882000/- to NMC
Nagpur based Orange City Hospital & Research Institute owned by Ravi Nair Hospitals Private Limited had procured 600 vials of Covishield vaccine stock from Serum Institute of India on 16th July 2021.
In view of the fact that they had unused 147 vials which were due to expire on 8th March 2022, OCHRI had been frantically corresponding with all competent state and central authorities along with SII highlighting the need of return/ rerouting/ expiry date extension feasibility of the unutilized Covishield vaccine stock so that these precious products do not get wasted. Accordingly, after obtaining confirmation of NMC on 28th Feb; OCHRI provided free of cost 140 vials costing Rs.8,82,000/- to NMC Health Officer for consumption in free Covid vaccination centers so as to optimally utilize these national resources and prevent wastage.
Dr. Vidya Nair- RNHPL Chairperson escorted by Shri.Prashant Tichkule-OCHRI Nodal Officer handed over the vials in a cold chain maintained carrier to Shri.Rahul Ninawe & Shri.Saurabh Pachpor-NMC Pharmacists, thus earning the credit of being one of the first Nagpur based private hospitals to have officially handed over their vaccine stock free of cost as an altruistic gesture for NMC vaccination drive.
Dr. Vidya Nair who was involved in the decision to procure the vials when it was made available to the private hospitals expressed gratitude towards the NMC as they take the responsibility for optimal utilization of the national resources.
